Our History: 1962

PSC was established by Order in Council to act as an advisory to the Resident Commissioner on appointments, terminations, disciplinary and advisory body on a wide range of issues like recruitment procedure and localization of services.

Lesotho Constitution gave PSC Executive powers in:

~ Advertisements
~ Maintaining the vacancy factor,
~ Determining criteria for selection
~ Dismissals
~ Confirmations
~ Appointments
~ Terminations
~ Disciplinary proceedings

Our History: 1970-1993

The 1966 Constitution was suspended and PSC reconstituted as the advisory body to the minister under Public Service Order of 1970.

Our History: 1993

The Constitution reinstated executive powers to the PSC in respect to those that were given by the 1966 Constitution including Promotions and Acting appointments.

Our History: 2005 to date

By the fifth (5th) amendment, the Constitution removed disciplinary powers from the Commission and placed them on the Heads of Departments of the line ministries.
